EMUBA Student Homecoming Ambassadors
EMUBA is excited to launch out Student Homecoming Ambassadors program this year. The purpose of this program is to provide professional mentorship for current EMU Students. We have identified 6 phenomenal students will be working with two EMUBA members, Nisa Dismas and Kory Woods. Check out the student information below!
Self taught photographer and cinematographer Derek Dandridge, is a current graduating senior and Electronic Media and Film Studies major at Eastern. The 23 year old Detroit native began exploring photography at the age of 20, it was at this time he developed his passion and love for this artwork. As a newly inducted member of the campus organization, Kings of Color, Dandridge has invested a large portion of his time as their historian. Upon graduation this upcoming December, Dandridge hopes to continue his freelance photography work and eventually gain employee within a production company.
A woman with a vision. Nautica Marshall, Columbus, OH native, seeks to deliver news accurately and timely. While a student at Eastern Michigan University, Nautica is studying Journalism while double minoring in Marketing and Graphic Communication. Nautica has a passion for photography, is strong in her faith and seeks to find truth in every aspect. Currently, she writes for the Eastern Echo, is President of Black Media Association and holds a position as head of Social Media for Burning Bush Campus Ministries.
Upon graduation December 2019, Nautica has career goals to work for a news organization, promote awareness and truth in an era where terms like "fake news" and "alternative facts" are used.
Honore Washington is a brand developer, social media specialist, writer and an upcoming public relations practitioner. She currently serves as the social media coordinator for the College of Education and the College of Arts & Sciences at Eastern Michigan University. Using these skills, she has began creating her own brand development and PR business, "2Flourish Media Group”. During her time at Eastern, she has been involved in several on-campus organizations such as Diversity & Inclusion Club, Black Media Association, Eastern Opportunity, and the Women’s center peer educator program.
After Honore graduates from EMU in December of 2019, she plans on continuing to her education and attending Law School to become an entertainment and sports attorney.
Honore was born in Detroit, MI but has lived a majority of her life in Ypsilanti, MI. Through her experiences, she has gained a strong passion for community service and outreach, and focuses on mentorship, education and sexual assault and domestic violence awareness
21 year old Demia Coleman, is a Detroit native with a passion for fashion, makeup and lifestyle blogging. As a Public Relations major and communications minor in her final year of undergraduate studies, Coleman has plans of continuing her full-time blogging and Youtubing experiences, as well as working towards creating her own PR firm. Her minimalistic, yet chic aesthetic has been her primary means of creating content and connecting with her audience. Coleman has also created her own business entitled, “The Princess Package: where style meets royalty”, a brand designed to create custom fashion, beauty, school and girl boss boxes! At Eastern, Coleman is currently very active within the PR Department, and holds a position as their Social Media Coordinator.
Cleveland, OH native Alicia Lewis is currently a senior majoring in Journalism with a double minor in Media studies and marketing.
